As a result, the police have been forced to wear masks in order to protect themselves from being targeted by the Seventh Kavalry in their homes after the “White Night.” Angela Abar, a detective who goes by the name Sister Night and is performed by King, is known for her investigation into the murder of her friend and the chief of police, Judd Crawford, who is played by Johnson. During her investigation, she uncovers secrets concerning the events surrounding vigilantism.

The launch of the series, which HBO is marketing as an ongoing drama series, took place on October 20, 2019, and it lasted until December 15, 2019, when it came to an end after nine episodes. After completing the first season, Lindelof resigned from his position as showrunner, citing the fact that he had finished the tale he had meant to tell. HBO subsequently acknowledged that there are no additional plans for the show to continue without Lindelof returning in some manner. Additionally, the work was reclassified as a limited series with the possibility of future installments.
